Another week packed full of juicy type links.

WTF? of the week: IKEA says goodbye to Futura – “After 50 years of the iconic Futura typeface, IKEA has made a switch to… Verdana?” Brace yourself. Inexplicably, IKEA’s 2010 catalog is now set in Verdana. This font, designed for screen, barely cuts it as a web typeface. I can only imagine the impact of its use in the world’s third most printed publication (narrowly beaten out by Bible and Harry Potter). Dark days surely await us. (via idsgn)

Type news from across the pond: ‘Punctuation hero’ branded a vandal for painting apostrophes on street signs – Who among us can’t sympathize with the plight of 62-year-old Stefan Gatward? Fight the power, sir! (via The Daily Mail Online)
