Historic Homepages

November 6th, 2008  |  events, observed, web design  |  5 Comments

When I saw this tweet last night, after chuckling at the HTML joke, I started thinking about all the folks who’d be stocking up on paper copies of newspapers today. That lead to some surfing of major news sites and, ultimately, to the collection below of post-election screenshots from around the web. Thanks to Kristofer Layon for the inspiration.

What did you do to commemorate this historic event?

What a great collection of site images - nice work!

But did you validate all of the code before taking screenshots? =)

Very nice!

Sadly, I’ve done nothing to commemorate it except to quietly celebrate and breathe a sigh of relief for the future of our country.

Geoff Menegay got a bunch, too. Here’s his page (h/t electoral-vote.com)

I actually bought two newspapers in the morning- but I did it to see if I was in any of them! Ha. Now I’m sure glad I did- I didn’t even think about how I should save them for the future.

I decided to save my I voted sticker and place it in a photo book. I heard they were selling newspapers on ebay for as high as 800.00 bucks. Wow.
