After having been on there for a few months, its use as a communication medium is quite apparent. Probably most the pronounced examples were during the Republican National Convention when protest groups were Tweeting on their phones to receive instant live updates on events in the area, plus during the rest of the election with people Tweeting the debates, spots on SNL, and election day anomalies.

With the higher volume encountered during the debates, the serial nature of the site (ie: all the tweets are probably saved chronologically and then each user gets their feed off the mother ship, filtered for who they're following), combined with the sheer volume of users did create system delays upwards of 10-15 minutes. There's probably a work-around, but it seems analogous to sensory overload for the human brain. "We need more servers!"

Thanks for following me on Twitter! :) Last week a posted an overview of it's use http://conniebensen.com/blog/2008/05/07/ideas-for-using-twitter/

And it's a great platform to connect with my favorite authors on: Shel Israel has become a good friend because of it, Geoff Livingston & I talk about blogging, etc. Guy Kawasaki & Robert Scoble interact with people making it fun to watch & listen to.

It's a totally unique experience! highly recommended!

Pretty sure. I've been following him for a few weeks now and he seems genuine. It doesn't have that forced quality that many fake Twitter accounts often have.
