I see that a few people are using Tweetdeck (www.tweetdeck.com) to organize their Twitter feeds. After the recent election, I find myself following 200+ people who no longer have anything to say relevant to me, so this may be a tool for me. Has anyone tried it?

Great post. This is by far the most nagging issue that any open networker has today. Social network fatigue seems to just part of the larger problem that we're facing today.

While we can't seem to escape information over-load, we can at least do our small part in managing what's relevant vs. what's not. Personally, I have "down-sized" my social networks and am still in the process of trying to clean up my scattered profiles on the web. I have many profiles that do very little in adding value to my overall experience on the web. I have narrowed my social networks down to a handfull and am focused on developing those profiles.

As for data aggregators...there's no wa I could function without my RSS reader. Right now I subscribe to way too many feeds so that's next on my hit list to clean up! :)

Thanks for post!

OK, so in the spirit of your post I thought that I would clean out my e-mail inbox- I have hundreds of e-mails in there, but there's some I want to save so I was going about it in a controlled manner. Then I came across a 4 year old e-mail from a friend who I actually have tried to find online, but have not been able to. I sent off an quick message to her and it's still a functioning account, she responded within moments. I've been having a great time communicating with her today. The inbox? At about 500, which is significantly less than it was this morning.

Google your usual alias of choice and you may find out you've created accounts and profiles at sites years ago that you've forgotten about. I've had this happen before!
